Vlasta
Slaninka said that Nechranice Dam is superb. So we agreed that we'll go to see it. Vlasta's bad knee began to hurt again and so the malefactor didn't participate in the end. The weather was fair enough and so after work we set out in direction to Žatec. This time we had even a map and so the way was quiet and we didn't even ramble. The first look at the dam was quite surprising, as there was something strange about it. We drove over the dike (btw. the longest strewn dike in middle Europe - 3.280 m), on the top of which there is a beautiful road, and turned left to cooling towers in long distance in front of us. We had no idea, what it is, and so we went to see it. And it was Tušimice power plant. Impressive building. We stayed a while, smoked, phoned, tuned TV (right, Tom? :)) and went on.
We rode around the whole dam, through Kadaň, and landed in Nechranice, where we finally went to the water. Till that time we guessed all the time, what's wrong with the water - was it frozen or was the dam empty? A) was right, but not entirely. Whole surface was covered with ice drift. Not entirely frozen, but not entirely unfrozen yet. From the distance it looked like the dam was empty. We were short on time, so a few photos, quick meat loaf in Žatec and quickly home. Nice trip, the dam is beautiful, but I wouldn't go for holiday there. The look at power plant and hideous countryside wouldn't be the right thing.
